Why I had a Wedding Coordinator!

The benefits of hiring a Wedding Coordinator from a Bride’s Perspective. Plus tips and advice for couples planning their upcoming wedding day!

The service “On the Day Coordination” is often misunderstood because of the industry reference name, “On the Day”. It’s a service that is much more than "On the Day". Each Wedding Planner/Coordinator will offer a different level of service and tasks included in their On the Day Coordination but it usually starts well before the day!

I help my couples prepare and focus on the most important elements of their day by providing checklists and timelines that reflect what they envision. We do this through regular meetings and check-ins to make sure everything is covered for their special day.

Nat and Carl were married on Nat’s family property in January this year, I was hired as their On the Day Coordinator to help create their vision with their incredible list of suppliers. I’m sharing today, not only Nat’s experience of the day but some fantastic planning tips for future couples getting married.

1)Why did you hire a Wedding Day Coordinator?

I hired a Wedding Coordinator mostly because that was the strong advice my mum and sister had given me. Through organising previous weddings and word of mouth from others they insisted I look into it. They wanted to make sure that because we were having the wedding at home that none of the family would be put under any extra pressure as they knew how many things there are to set up and coordinate on a wedding day. It didn’t take much to convince me and I soon realised that would be a fantastic idea.

2) What surprised you most about this service?

The value from Emma Events by Ec service was exceptional. As an ‘on the day coordination package’, Emma didn’t just show up on the day with a list I gave her, she put time and effort in before the wedding to sit down with my Mum and I planning my personalised run sheet down to the fine details. Emma’s response time to emails and speed in drawing up running sheets and checklists for the day were so fast and I was never left to feel uncertain about anything.

3) Would you recommend the service to friends that are getting married?

Absolutely . I try and tell any friends I know that are getting married about Emma.

4) What was your most enjoyable part of the day ?

The most enjoyable part of the day for me was walking into the wedding reception hand in hand with my husband was an absolute moment of joy. Seeing our set up that we had envisioned, the magical tent, the flowers, the cake ( which was a surprise ), the food & most important how happy our guests looked. Hearing the live band and trumpet performing Jackie Wilson’s ‘higher and higher’ and feeling happiness radiate us and from everyone was an absolute highlight. We knew we were in for a fun night!

5) What advice would you give to couples that are currently planning their wedding?

My advice would be make a list of the non-negotiables you and your partner want to include in your special day. Create a vision of how you want to feel, want it to look, how you want to remember it. Then work from there 😊

Thanks so much to Nat for sharing her experience with us. I had such a fantastic day bringing together, Nat and Carl’s vision and I’m very thankful to them for allowing me to be part of their day!
