I absolutely love a private property or at home wedding = blank canvas. There is a lot of detailed wedding planning involved to ensure that you have everything covered and that your day runs smoothly.

The most important thing is to create a customised checklist of your day based on your vision. I work with my couples to create their unique checklist based on the key elements they value. Today I am sharing with you a PDF download checklist to help you plan your private property wedding plus planning tips.. Download the PDF below and tick the elements that you want to include and start planning your day.

7 tips for planning a Private Property Wedding

  1. Hire suppliers that have experience with private property events as they know what is needed and they can also guide you with a checklist and information to help you plan.

  2. Select the location of your ceremony & reception. If you’re having a marquee or sperry tent, lock this in ASAP as you don’t want to get close to the wedding day and not be able to book one. Also think about your ceremony plan B if outside!⠀

  3. Ensure your suppliers have access to water & electricity.⠀
I recommend having a back up generator & plenty of extension cords. Ask each supplier what they will need and then make a list⠀

  4. Think about the location of parking & transport off the property as well as the location from ceremony to reception – can guests easily walk the distance. This especially for larger property weddings

  5. Are you allowing the guest access to the house? If not, think about toilet hire and clear signage on the outside of the main house especially if the bridal party is getting ready inside. ⠀

  6. Are you having a pop up bar and supplying your own drinks? Ask your bar supplier to guide you with number of drinks based on your guests. If you purchase the alcohol try and keep it in boxes until you need to use them, this way if you don’t end up using them you maybe able to get a refund (depending on the retailer and their refund policy ask before your purchase). Hiring an external pop up bar like a caravan bar they usually provide you with all of the glassware which is one less thing for you to think about. Always confirm with your suppliers before booking what they are including in the package so you are aware.

  7. A must have for a private property wedding is a Wedding Day Coordinator . It is important to have one main contact to help direct your suppliers, assist your guests and to ensure that you and your family can enjoy your day without having to worry about the detail. If you have spent months planning your private property wedding and want the details executed on the day, my on the Day Coordination package is perfect if you’re based in Victoria.
